A Word for Intercessors in 2018: The Way Out Is In

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. -Joshua 1:8 NIV. Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” -Mathew 4:4 NIV

As I was praying in the Spirit, I saw a picture of the rug being pulled out from under intercessors. As the rug was yanked out from this man that represented intercessors, his feet flew up in the air and he landed on his back. Immediately after I saw this picture, the following word came:

“Start now, start slowly. Rebuild your life, but first reframe it in Me. There is nothing without that can cause you to forfeit what I have for you. Only within. Go deeper in Me. Meet with Me. Do not depart from My word. The words you have memorized and are familiar with are not where I am asking you to dive. Go deep into study, meditation and uncharted territory. Let every word that proceeds out of My mouth be your food and your guide. The way out is in.”

As the New Year begins, so many of us carry the hope of rebuilding an area of our life, an area where we feel the rug was pulled out from us. The LORD is affirming that we can rebuild that area of our life. This word also eliminates the illusion that any external circumstance can cause us to forfeit what God has for us. We have the ability and authority to forfeit what God has for us as we 1) fail to apply His word, 2) stay in the shallows of familiar texts or 3) lean on our conventions. This includes the way we pray.  “Uncharted territory” insinuates that we cannot reject anything simply because it radically challenges everything we think God has shown us thus far. Many times, our doctrine and experiences become familiar and stale reference points that pacify us from a fresh pursuit with our Father who longs to take us deeper. May we not cling to the stale bread of yesterday’s provision when fresh manna is awaiting us today.

Let’s Pray:
“Father, help us to go deeper in You. Help us to acknowledge the preeminence of Your word and apply it to our lives and the areas we intercede for. Teach us how to pray, study and meditate. Lead us into the vastness of Your heart.  We thank You for giving us the keys to the Kingdom and showing us that the way out of conundrums in which we find ourselves is deeper in You.”
